Introducing Tummy Time: Why It’s Essential

Tummy time is crucial for developing a baby’s neck, shoulder, and arm muscles, helping prevent flat head syndrome and preparing them for crawling. However, some babies resist tummy time, leading parents to worry.

Start with short sessions of tummy time several times a day, using engaging toys and face-to-face interaction to make it enjoyable. Placing the baby on your chest or lap can also help them adjust to the new position.

A comfortable play mat or activity gym with colorful toys can make tummy time fun. Encouraging the baby with soothing music, gentle massages, and soft encouragement helps them enjoy the experience rather than resist it.

As babies gain strength, increase tummy time duration gradually. If your baby continues to resist, try different positions, such as rolling from side to tummy or propping them on a nursing pillow to ease the transition.
